We’ve been saying that dogs are good for our hearts for a long time, in a figurative sense, at least. But one study has proven that dogs literally have an effect on our hearts — in a good way, of course!
The truly heartwarming part? We also have a positive effect on the heart health of our dogs!
The study measured the heart rates of dogs and their owners when they were apart from each other. In all cases, both animals and humans experienced elevated heart rates.
Then the study had the dogs and humans reunite, spending one-on-one time on a couch together.
The heart rates of the dogs and their owners immediately slowed to a calmer pace. And the amazing part? Their heartbeats started to sync up!
Perfect proof that dogs and humans are meant to be together. Watch the full video here of the humans their furry companions:
Add this to your list of reasons why you should get a dog (or five MORE dogs): they’re good for your health, and you’re good for theirs!
