Can you imagine a world without Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google? For those who were born after the advent of the Internet, it’s probably pretty tough. Even for those that were around long before that, it can be a bit of a struggle to remember life without it.
Searching Through Index Cards at the Library
Do you remember actually having to go to the library and consult books in order to get an answer to a question? It was a lot harder to get that kind of information before Google came around. Not only that, but in order to find the right book, you had to use a time-consuming filing system that contained thousands of index cards, known as the Dewey Decimal system. There weren’t computers where you could search on the type of book or title to find its location.
